Amy Gillespie, Executive Director of the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation, delivered a thought-provoking presentation to members of the Club Richelieu Cornwall, offering a clear and compelling overview of the hospital’s growing capacity to deliver specialized, professional healthcare to the local population.
Gillespie emphasized that the Cornwall Community Hospital is increasingly able to provide a wide range of specialized medical services, drawing on the experience and expertise of a highly respected medical team. This ability to provide high-quality care, she noted, is strengthening the hospital’s capacity to meet the needs of patients across the region.
A significant portion of her presentation focused on the hospital’s pediatric and youth services, outlining the breadth and quality of care available to children and teenagers from 0 to 18 years old. From assessment to treatment, Gillespie highlighted the specialized programs that support young patients and their families close to home, a point that resonated strongly with Richelieu members.
She also underscored the critical role of community partnerships. Many pieces of specialized medical equipment essential to pediatric care are not funded by the Ministry, making community support indispensable. Contributions from local donors and organizations, she explained, have a direct and meaningful impact on the health and well-being of children in Cornwall and the surrounding area.
